At Robson Square Dental, we believe in offering our patients a comprehensive range of services to enhance their overall well-being and appearance. That's why we proudly provide Botox and Dysport treatments, two highly effective solutions for rejuvenating your skin and achieving a youthful look. Discover how these treatments can complement your dental care journey, and how they can also help address issues like TMJ disorder, muscle pain, and headaches caused by teeth grinding and clenching.
What are Botox and Dysport?
Botox and Dysport, both neurotoxin-based treatments, are widely recognized for their ability to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. They can effectively relax the muscles responsible for dynamic wrinkles such as crow's feet, frown lines, and forehead wrinkles.
In addition to their cosmetic applications, Botox and Dysport can provide much-needed relief from muscle pain, tension, and headaches. They are particularly effective in addressing discomfort associated with TMJ disorder, a condition that often results from teeth grinding and clenching.
These treatments offer a non-surgical and minimally invasive approach, making them a versatile solution for enhancing your natural beauty and improving your overall well-being.
Botulinum Toxin Post Treatment Instructions
After your Botox or Dysport treatment at Robson Square Dental, it's essential to follow these post-treatment instructions to ensure the best results and a comfortable recovery:
1. Try to exercise your treated muscles for 1-2 hours after treatment (e.g. practice frowning, raising your eyebrows or squinting). This helps to work Botulinum Toxin into your muscles. Although this is thought to help, it will NOT impact your treatment negatively if you forget to do this.
2. Avoid Touching the Treated Area: For the first 4 hours after your treatment, avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to the treated areas. This helps prevent the toxin from spreading to unintended areas. Also avoid facials or saunas for 4 hours after your treatment. This will minimize the risk of raising your blood pressure and therefore minimize the risk of temporary bruising. Feel free to shower and go about most other regular daily activities.
3. Stay Upright: Remain upright and avoid lying down for at least four hours following the procedure. This will help prevent the product from migrating to other areas.
4. Refrain from Strenuous Exercise: It's recommended that you refrain from strenuous exercise for 4 hours after your treatment. Excessive physical activity can increase blood flow to the treated areas, potentially leading to temporary swelling and bruising.
5. Be assured that any tiny bumps or marks will go away within a few hours. If you need to apply make-up within 4 hours after treatment, only use a GENTLE touch to avoid rubbing the treated area.
6. Be Patient: It may take several days to a week for the full effects of your Botox or Dysport treatment to become apparent.
7. Follow-up Appointments: If necessary, schedule any recommended follow-up appointments to address your specific concerns and ensure the best possible results.
